Is the modern church equipping Christians to stand firm in the wild, or are we just building stronger cages for perpetual babes?

It’s now over a year since I snapped my patella in two, had surgery, wore a leg brace for 12 weeks and had to learn to bend my knee again. Today many people partake in fireside theology. They treat Christianity like sitting by the fireside, it is something to keep you comfortable, a balm on a cold night. Christianity is something you sit around, but not something you really live.

I used to think contentment was just about not being covetous, or accepting the bare minimum in life. I’ve recently realised it means so much more than that.
